The Silvretta Arena:
this is what a ski holiday in Ischgl is like.

238 kilometres of slopes wind their way through a ski resort that literally transcends borders, as the Silvretta Arena links Ischgl with Samnaun in Switzerland. 45 lifts hum and glide, carrying you up to elevations of between 2,000 and 2,872 metres, where the snow lies. From late November to early May, your edges will bite into the grippy north-facing slopes, while the panoramic views never cease to enchant you. The Arena is one of the ten best ski resorts in the Alps: gentle slopes invite you to cruise along, steep gullies put your thighs to the test, and in between, mountain huts await where Jagertee is steaming away. Your ski hotel in Ischgl will be waiting for you in the evening, when your muscles start to relax and you start to feel peckish.

When you take a break from skiing

Winter in Ischgl is just as brilliant off the slopes, so feel free to leave your skis in the cellar for a change. Simply enjoy a drink at the hotel bar, relax on the sun terrace or in the spa, or make the most of the activities the Paznaun valley has to offer.

The run from Mt Idalp runs 7 kilometres down into the valley, descending 950 metres of elevation, and is one of the longest in the Alps. On Mondays and Thursdays, the Silvretta cable car stays open until 8.30 p.m. for night-time tobogganing, so you can whizz through the darkness under the floodlights, while the wind bites your cheeks.

Events in Ischgl: from the ski resort to the party scene

When Ischgl parties, the bass booms all the way up into the mountains, and you can still feel the vibrations out on the slopes. The legendary “Top of the Mountain” concerts to mark the start and end of the season bring top international acts to the stage, while thousands of fans dance and party in the snow. During the day, you’ll be carving your way down the slopes; in the afternoon, you’ll be partying to the music. From your ski hotel in Ischgl, you can walk to the stage, and once the final chord has faded, you can slip back into the bar, where a drink is waiting for you. It rounds off your evening just as a pinch of salt rounds off the perfect dish: used sparingly, just right, with a touch of something extra.

Learn from the best at the ski school
Just strap on your skis and set off? It works if you know how.
